An Inspiring Collaboration

The Midland Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra providing the Great Lakes Bay Region with excellence in symphonic music since 1936.

The Symphony and vocalists from across the region perform Carl Orff’s monumental Carmina Burana, probably the most frequently performed choral work of the 21st century.

The name has Latin roots. “Carmina Burana” translates as “Songs of Beuren,” and refers to a collection of early 13th-century songs and poems now housed in the Bavarian State Library. The work is divided into three parts: Spring, In the Tavern, and Love.

Even if you don’t recognize the name, the haunting melodies of this popular and significant work are known by all.

So many performers, so many textures, so much variety. If you have never heard it live in concert, prepare for an awesome experience.

Directed by Bohuslav Rattay and Dr. Matt Travis

Enjoy a drink in the Saints & Sinners Lounge and visit with Maestro Rattay, musicians and/or guest artists after the performance.
