PORTRAITS OF THE UNSUNG

The Choirs of the Center have commissioned internationally-acclaimed composer Joel Thompson to write new music celebrating the lives of Michigan civil rights heroes: Rosa Parks, Viola Liuzzo, and Grace Lee Boggs. In addition to the new music writing exclusively for this performance, Thompson has paired previously written repertoire that will enhance the evening, honoring these incredible women. It will be a powerful evening of thrilling new repertoire and song reminding us that we all have the power to change the world for the better as these strong, brilliant women have done.
