Info for Rehearsals in the Fall 2021 Season
Email from Matt on September 22:
Looking forward to making music with all of you next week! A couple of reminders:
It is Center policy that everyone participating in choir must be fully vaccinated.
It is a Center policy that we will mask for all rehearsals.
We will have roughly 3 foot spacing between chairs to mitigate risk as best as we are able.
Rehearsals for the fall will be 7:30 – 9:00 until further notice. I’m also delighted to introduce you to our wonderful new pianist, Collin Whitfield!
Can’t wait to sing again with all of you and see you on Monday. Please arrive no later than 7:15 to ensure music pick up.
Email from Matt on September 17:
I hope this finds you well amidst what has been a complicated year. I write with good news – we will begin choral singing again at the Center this fall! September 27th, cannot come soon enough! Singing, specifically choral singing, is something that I have missed deeply and I know I speak for the other conductors when I say that we are thrilled to return to making music with each of you.
At the Center, we have been regularly reading research, reports, and following the data regarding COVID-related best practices. Keeping our community artists as safe as possible amidst this pandemic remains a top priority. To that end, as we return to rehearsal, the following measures will be in place:
- All singers must be considered fully-vaccinated as defined by the CDC to participate in choral ensembles (two weeks after your second shot for the two shot vaccines or two weeks after the single-shot vaccine)
- Anyone who enters the building will be masked at all times – including when singing in rehearsal
- Chairs will be placed approximately three feet apart throughout the rehearsal area
- Singers will be asked to complete a health screening form when entering the building. A link to the health screening form can be found here – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeZaxNZXFGKWDPYFLjBeJmtowA_Id61vSunPNkVzOl5FM9e_w/viewform
While I recognize that this makes for a rehearsal environment and choral experience very different from that of the past, ultimately, we feel as though these measures provide the only viable way for us to rehearse together as safely as possible. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding, and look forward to singing with all of you this fall.
Email from Matt on August 27:
I hope you are well! I just wanted to reach out to assure you that CHOIR IS HAPPENING! On Monday, 9/27 I’d like to get back at this with each of you! I know it’s been a long, and challenging stretch without music. I’ve felt it. We all have felt it.
In a few weeks, and prior to the first rehearsal, we will have more information about COVID risk mitigation practices. In the meantime, many of my singer friends have enjoyed the KN95 masks: https://www.amazon.com/Face-Mask-White-Disposable-Pack/dp/B08CFTY8VT/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=kn95+face+masks+single&qid=1629744887&sr=8-2; they are affordable and highly effective, and preferred by many singers (some even over the “singer masks”).
Anyway, I can’t wait to see you all soon in our usual spot. I’d love to hear from each of you so as to plan for who will be joining us.
